Prof. M.P. Khare who was a renowned teacher at the University of Lucknow, Lucknow, India,  and a leading scientist and researcher in the field of Carbohydrates and Natural Product Chemistry. Prof. Khare did his masters in Chemistry from University of Lucknow, Lucknow, India in 1951 and was awarded McMahon Gold medal. He was awarded Ph.D. degree in 1956 from the same university. After that he obtained D.Phil. in 1959 with Nobel Laureate Prof. T. Reichstein of Basel University, Switzerland with Volkart and UNESCO Exchange scholarships. He also received the British Science Research Council postdoctoral fellowship, England, from 1969 to 1973 under Prof. R. J. Ferrier and Prof. W. G. Overend.

   Prof. Khare was born in the year 1935. He was the head of the Chemistry Department, University of Lucknow from 1986 till his death in 1990. During this period he had supervised at least 20 students for their Ph.D. degrees and published more than 100 research papers in various National & International Journals of repute.
